From Columbus to Austin

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing the clothing essentials needed to move from places like Columbus to Austin!

Relocating from Columbus to Austin has been so much fun. It has been filled with new experiences, cultural shifts, and drastic weather changes. Transitioning from Columbus’ chilly winters to Austin’s scorching summers requires a wardrobe overhaul.

In Austin, lightweight and breathable fabrics are a must. Cotton, linen, and moisture-wicking materials will keep you cool and comfortable during the hot months. Look for loose-fitting tops, shorts, and dresses that allow air circulation.

The Texas sun can be intense. Wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and lightweight long-sleeve shirts can help protect your skin from harmful rays.

Austin weather can fluctuate, with cool mornings and hot afternoons. Transitional pieces like lightweight jackets and cardigans are essential for layering. You can easily add and remove these items as temperatures fluctuate throughout the day or as you go in and out of air conditioning.

Invest in versatile tops that you can layer. Tank tops, t-shirts, and blouses in neutral colors can be mixed and matched to create different looks suitable for changing temperatures.

While Austin winters are milder than Columbus’, you’ll still need some warmth. Light jackets, denim jackets, and sweaters are perfect for Austin’s cooler days. Choose pieces that you can layer over t-shirts and blouses.

Keep a few pairs of jeans and lightweight pants in your wardrobe. They are perfect for Austin’s mild winters, and you can pair them with light sweaters or jackets for a cozy yet breathable outfit.

Austin’s laid-back vibe means casual, comfortable clothing is always in. Denim shorts, graphic tees, and casual dresses are staples. Pair these with comfortable sneakers or sandals for an effortless look.

Let’s just say I had three bags of clothes to get rid of before this move!

Thanks for reading!

Love, Leah
