How to: Girls Night

Hi y’all! I’m starting a new series where I write how-to guides. Today I’m sharing all things Valentine’s and Galentine’s!

There are two ways to spend Valentine’s Day: going out with your girls or your partner or staying in with your girls or your partner. I have you covered for both options.

If you’re going out, I chose a black dress you could accessorize, such as with these red Vince Camuto boots.

If you’re like me, I prefer a more modest look. I think off-the-shoulder items are flirty and feminine while remaining modest. I love this shimmery and satin top with its ruffle trim and bow detail. It would be perfect for a bride-to-be!

Comfy clothes are always a must for a girl’s night. I love these cargo sweatpants and would pair them with a basic tank.

Going along with the cozy theme, a cute pair of slippers. These come in the cutest patterns, and, of course, the strawberries are my favorite.

If you spend the night in by yourself, this is the perfect opportunity for a self-care night. I’ve been seeing the brand Youth to the People a lot recently. Their cleanser and moisturizer are highly recommended, so I thought I’d try them. Their ingredients include fruits and vegetables, which feel so fresh on the skin. I love them! Their overnight mask is meant to hydrate, plump, and brighten your complexion and would be great for a self-care night!

Another thing I love about Valentine’s Day is the treats. If you are hosting, you will need snacks. Sugarfina makes these little candy cubes perfect for snacking on or as a party favor. I also love a themed cocktail. The options are endless with Valentine’s Day. Here’s an article I found with 36 different recipes. I’m dying to try the strawberries and champagne margarita! Pour them over colorful glasses and add a cocktail pick for garnish.

Now, on to mastering the perfect charcuterie board, or in this case, a candy board for a Valentine’s twist. It’s never as easy as it looks, but the best tip I can give is that you don’t want gaps or to be able to see the bottom. Here are some ideas of what to put on your board to get you started:

  • Strawberries

  • Rasberries

  • Cherries

  • Candy hearts

  • Meringue cookies

  • Macaroons

  • Chocolate truffles

  • Pink and red sour candies

  • Chocolate covered pretzels

  • Shortbread cookies

  • Marshmallow hearts

  • Wafers

You could even arrange the treats on a heart shaped board!

Wishing you the best Valentine’s Day!

Love, Leah
