The Housemaid’s Secret: Book Review
Hi y’all! Today I’ll be reviewing The Housemaid’s Secret by Frieda McFadden, the sequel to The Housemaid!
My Goodreads rating: 5/5 stars
Millie is back and cleaning in Wendy and Douglas Garrick’s luxury penthouse. Wendy is recovering from illness and stays behind closed doors. Millie knows to follow the instructions to leave her alone, but something is itching at her to get to the bottom of what’s really going on.
We don’t pick up exactly where we left off, but there are little references to the first book that help us bridge the gap. You could read this book independently, but I recommend starting with the first one because it helps build Millie’s character.
Like the first book, The Housemaid’s Secret contains lots of twists. The main twist was foreseeable, but the smaller ones threw me for a loop. I love Frieda McFadden’s fast-paced writing and storylines that keep you invested. Her writing is easy to read, making it a book you find yourself flying through.
I give The Housemaid’s Secret another 5/5 stars! The book perfectly combines the elements of psychological and domestic thrillers with those of murder mysteries. McFadden does a fantastic job of misdirecting the reader. I hope she continues to a third installment!
Next Up: The Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Thanks for reading!
